Pierceton Tennis Courts, Trails Will Reopen May 24
Staff Report
PIERCETON – Tennis courts and trails in Pierceton are expected to reopen May 24, town council announced earlier this week.
The closings came as a result of the pandemic.
Town officials said the Park Board will hold a meeting on June 3 to re-evaluate the opening of all other parks in town.
The town also announced plans for two new pickleball courts. These will be placed at the location of one of the two tennis courts in town.
No date is set for when they will be ready.
In other matters, Police Chief Tim Sammons said that a police vehicle that was damaged in 2019 will be replaced with an unmarked vehicle.
Town council also discussed domesticated animals running loose.
Pets that roam off property will become a citable offense. Upon the second time, a report will be made and the owners could face a $25 citation.
The addition of a new light at the old truck stop on US 30, across from Suncoast Trailers, was discussed due to a large amount of activity at night. The future of the building is still undetermined.
Pierceton Days is still set to happen July 31 to Aug. 1, despite the current concerns with the coronavirus.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 8.
