Rochester Man Dies In One-Vehicle Crash
ROCHESTER — A Rochester man died after his motorcycle went off a road in Fulton County.
At approximately 9:15 p.m. Thursday, April 2, Fulton County 911 received a call of a one-vehicle crash near the residence of 5387 E. CR 250S, Rochester.
When Fulton County Sheriff deputies arrived, they found a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle in a side ditch with the driver in the roadway unresponsive. The driver was identified as Harold Honeycutt, 51, Rochester. Lifesaving procedures were initiated by Fulton County deputies until EMS arrived on scene. A passenger on the motorcycle was treated and released at the scene by medics. Honeycutt was then flown from the scene by Samaritan to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for injuries sustained due to the crash. Honeycutt died from his injuries on Friday, April 3.
Based upon a preliminary crash investigation, the motorcycle was traveling west on CR 250S near CR 500E when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the north side of the roadway on a curve, coming to rest in a side ditch. Honeycutt was thrown from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.
The crash continues to be under investigation at this time and speed may be a contributing factor. Assisting the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Rochester Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and Samaritan.
