Driver Suffers Apparent Minor Injuries

MILFORD — The lone driver of a Chevrolet 2500HD 4×4 truck sustained what appeared to be minor injuries after his truck went off CR 300E and into Hammond Ditch, east of Milford. The accident was reported around 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 1.
The investigating Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputy reported it appeared the male driver was northbound when for an unknown reason the truck went off the west side of the roadway and into Hammond Ditch. The ditch, located between CR 900N and CR 1000N, is an outlet for Dewart Lake.
Milford Firefighters, several putting on gumby suits, used a ladder as a platform to get from the deep ditch embankment and culvert pipe to the vehicle. They also used the cable with a hook to secure the truck from tipping further onto the driver’s side. Once the driver was freed from the vehicle he was placed on a backboard, which emergency personnel slid on a ladder to waiting personnel to carry him up the embankment.
It was reported he suffered lacerations to his hand and head. Lutheran EMS transported him to Goshen Hospital for treatment.
