Two From Cromwell Arrested After Stealing Debit Card
CROMWELL — Two people from Cromwell were recently arrested after allegedly stealing a woman’s debit card and using it without permission.
Jacklyn Ann Eckard, 22, 11963 N. Camelot Lane East, Cromwell, is charged with fraud on a financial institution, a level 5 felony; and theft, a level 6 felony. Lonnie Eugene Miller, 26, also with the same address, is charged with theft, a level 6 felony.
On Jan. 7, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officer received a report of debit card theft. A woman said her debit card had been used at multiple locations, with all of the transactions totaling $941.44.
According to court documents, the woman identified Eckard as the individual that took her debit card. The woman said Eckard had just moved into her residence and was not given permission to use the debit card.
Eckard was interviewed by a Ligonier Police officer on Jan. 10. Eckard said she did use the debit card without the woman’s permission. She also said Miller was with her during every transaction.
Miller was also interviewed and admitted that he was with Eckard when she withdrew the funds and that he was aware the transactions being completed were fraudulent. Miller also said he never went inside to any of the locations while the transactions were completed and that he still had some of the money left from the fraudulent transactions.
Eckard and Miller were booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on March 26, each with a $4,000 surety and cash bond.
