NorthWood Heading Back To HOF Invite
LEBANON – NorthWood girls golf will continue to prove itself among the greats as it secured a spot at the Hall of Fame Invite in August.
The Panthers, playing in the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association event for the fifth straight season and seventh time overall, will take on 20 other teams at The Trophy Club in Lebanon. The slate is set for Saturday, Aug. 29, and hosted by Westfield High School.
NorthWood played in its first HOF Invite in 2010, then again in 2013 and each of the last four years. Last year’s event was at Purgatory Golf Club, where NorthWood finished eighth with a 330. Evansville North won the event with a 290, three strokes better than Homestead and 10 clear of Zionsville – coincidentally all three teams were the top three at the IHSAA State Finals. NorthWood’s scoring figures from a year ago had Makenna Gall shoot a 79, followed by Cybil Stillson at 82 and both Breanna Goss and Kirsten Schrock at 85. Delaney Davis added an 89, which helped the Panthers to a tiebreaker over Franklin Community in the team standings.
NorthWood will join seven other teams that competed at the IHSAA State Finals a season ago. State champion Homestead and runner-up Evansville North are both in the field, as well as the fourth through eighth-place teams in Westfield, Carmel, NorthWood, Noblesville and Columbus North. Crown Point, which was 11th, is also in the field.
Rounding out the invite list are Brownsburg, Bedford North Lawrence, Castle, Center Grove, Franklin Community, Guerin Catholic, Heritage Christian, Hamilton Southeastern, North Newton, Perry Meridian, Tipton, Vincennes Rivet and Western.
