Three Indianapolis Men Arrested After Rochester Robbery
ROCHESTER — Three Indianapolis men were recently arrested after robbing an auto parts store in Rochester.
Davonta Geno Bartlett, 19; Arieon Anderson, 17; and Dejaun Bartlett, 16, all of Indianapolis, are each charged with armed robbery, a level 3 felony; and theft, a level 6 felony.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. Friday, March 13, Rochester Police officers investigated a report of robbery at O’Reilly Auto Parts, 1514 Main St., Rochester. Two men wearing black clothing had entered the store with what was believed to be a rifle and handgun. The two men ordered a sales associate at the store to give them the money from his cash drawer and a safe. The employee eventually opened the safe and put money bags into a backpack. The two men then left the store without further incident.
According to court documents, the employee was on the phone with a warehouse representative when the two men entered the store. The employee said he became aware of the situation when he looked up and noticed the men were armed and had guns pointed at his head. The employe said they ordered him to open a safe and that he placed money bags into a backpack.
The employee said he noticed the appearance of one of the men’s shoes and that both men were wearing dark sweatshirts with the drawstring pulled tightly to leave only a small opening around the eyes and nose area. After the men obtained the money from the safe, the employee pressed an alarm button to notify the business’s alarm company.
In total, $1,487.06 was taken from the O’Reilly Auto Parts store.
That same night, Rochester Police officers were notified that an auto parts store in Knox had also been robbed by men wearing clothing matching the O’Reilly Auto Parts robbery suspects’ descriptions. One of the men was also in possession of a rifle.
Later that night, officers were notified of a traffic stop in Pulaski County. During that traffic stop, officers located a rifle, a backpack matching the description of the one used in the O’Reilly Auto Parts robbery and a large sum of U.S. currency. Officers were also told that one adult and three juveniles were being taken into custody by Knox City Police officers.
A Rochester Police officer obtained a search warrant for the four suspects’ personal clothing and affects. The officer was also provided evidence from the Knox Police Department, which included three cellular phones and a firearm. Three of the suspects in the vehicle were identified as Davonta, Arieon and Dejaun. An unnamed juvenile was also taken into custody.
Arieon Anderson and Dejaun Bartlett were booked in the Fulton County Jail on March 18. Davonta Bartlett was booked in the Starke County Jail on March 14.
