Elkhart County Fair Suspends Fairgrounds Activities For 30 Days
GOSHEN — The Elkhart County 4-H & Agriculture Exposition Inc., has announced it will immediately comply with Gov. Eric Holcomb’s recommendation on the postponement or cancellation of all non-essential gatherings of more than 250 people for a minimum of 30 days.
Numerous recreational vehicle rallies, large auction sales and organizations hosting large meeting gatherings use the facilities and fairgrounds.
Officials with the fair sent out a press release that states: “Out of an abundance of caution and in consideration of the health and safety of our community, we are temporarily suspending all fairground events outside of the 4-H program during this time,” a press release stated from fair officials.
“This situation is extremely challenging for our entire community and our goal is to work with every client to help as best we can during this trying time. All parties are being contacted and those with questions are encouraged to contact the fair office directly.
“The situation and supporting information are changing almost hourly. We are committed to doing our absolute best to keep everyone informed as quickly as we can. Our ultimate hope is to resume normal operations once the ban is lifted and be back to serving our community at that time.”
The release additionally notes Purdue Extension has mandated all 4-H related workshops, events and meetings that have 50 or more people will not meet face to face. Instead, they will be meeting through alternative methods such as video or will postpone the meetings altogether.
“The safety and well-being of our guests and community is our top priority. Any decisions made by the Elkhart County 4-H & Agriculture Exposition Inc. will be guided by science and reason. We look forward to the 2020 Elkhart County 4-H Fair and continuing to promote agriculture and youth development and provide quality entertainment for Elkhart County.”
