Grace Honors Two More Standout Athletes
WINONA LAKE – Grace was honored two more Player of the Week awards this past week.
CAMPBELL A STANDOUT IN WOMEN’S TRACK
Following an incredible weekend, Nordia Campbell was named the NCCAA National Track Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Campbell starred for Grace’s track and field team over the weekend at the 2020 NCCAA National Championships. She had a part in four national championship events, including two solo races and two relays.
She won the 60-meter dash in 8.04 seconds, and she won the 200 at 25.81.
She joined Lyne Camara, Suzanne Sickafoose and Julia Malson to win the 4×200 relay in a school-record time of 1:43.86.
Campbell, Sickafoose and Camara also teamed up with Ashley Stoltzfus to claim the 4×400 title at 3:59.16.
For the totality of her performances, Campbell was named the NCCAA Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet.
The Lancers have one indoor meet remaining. Grace will send a record 16 student-athletes to the 2020 NAIA National Championships in Brookings, S.D., starting March 5.
POPOVIC LEADING TENNIS SURGE
Pavle Popovic was recognized for Grace’s men’s tennis team on Monday as the Crossroads League Player of the Week.
Popovic scored wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles. During Grace’s 6-1 victory over Judson, Popovic won 7-6 at No. 1 doubles (with Milan Savic) and 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
The Lancers (13-4) are cruising through the spring season. Grace, who is receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25, have won four straight matches in the spring. Grace will take on Holy Cross on Saturday in South Bend.
