Conference Awards Continue To Roll In
Awards season is running parallel to the conclusion of the 2019-20 winter sports state tournaments. Here is the latest awards lists, as released by the conferences.
THREE RIVERS CONFERENCE WRESTLING
Conference champions were deemed automatic All-TRC. Team champion Wabash had seven champions, and thus, seven All-TRC performers. The list for the Apaches includes Ethan Higgins, Braden Brooks, Robert Barnett, Traydon Goodwin, Grant Carandante, Bryson Zapata and Grant Warmuth.
Conference runner-up Manchester had Dylan Stroud, Zach France, Ashton Moore and Bryce Kamphues all claim honors.
Peru, which took third in the team standings, had the other three All-TRC awards in Cooper Baldwin, Trey Sturgill and Zian Constable.
THREE RIVERS CONFERENCE BOYS SWIMMING
Champion Maconaquah had a host of award winners in earning conference honors in the same format as wrestling – win and you are in. For the Braves earning All-TRC were Luke Stage, Nolyn Tubb, Cole Bretzman, Hunter O’Connor, Vinny Rooker, Jobe Ulshafer and Walker Hays.
Runner-up Rochester had Mason Beall, Reece Renie, Layne Backus and Dylan Steininger earn All-TRC.
Also taking TRC honors were Mason Stephen of Tippecanoe Valley, Grant Dale of Northfield and Seth Blossom of Wabash.
THREE RIVERS CONFERENCE GIRLS SWIMMING
Maconaquah dominated the TRC meet as well as All-TRC awards. Earning stripes for the Lady Braves were Abby Shrock, Anna Borden, Janet Johnston, Kaylinn Teegardin, Erika Baber and Hannah Montgomery.
Manchester’s sister act of Josie and Halle Briner were All-TRC, as was Tippecanoe Valley diver Elaina Dishon.
NORTHERN LAKES CONFERENCE BOYS SWIMMING
The Concord Minutemen won the NLC with a perfect 7-0 round robin and first place finish in the NLC Championships. Leading the way in the All-NLC awards for Concord were Will Harris, Tommy Brunner, Derek Angel and Hayden Gill. At-Large All-NLC for Concord was Ethan Smith and Honorable Mention went to Ethan Davies.
A three-way tie for Coach of the Year went to Concord’s Tom Johnson, Warsaw’s Tony DeBrota and Wawasee’s Jason Scott.
Warsaw finished second and had Grant Knight earn All-NLC, Michael Ray take At-Large All-NLC and both Nick Bazzoni and Zach LaLonde earn Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Northridge finished third, and had Tristin Bratt, Joey Garberick, Turner Koch and Luke Dibley earn All-NLC.
NorthWood diver Caden Jenkins was All-NLC.
Wawasee had Nathan Kryder earn At-Large All-NLC and Daegan Kingery earn Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Also earning Honorable Mention All-NLC were Goshen’s Dylan Steury and Nick Zehr along with Plymouth’s Cameron Riddle.
