Champions Abound In All-NLC Wrestling Tally
GOSHEN – It was a star-studded list of champions at the Northern Lakes Conference Wrestling Championships. Each of the 14 class champions earned All-NLC status, as well as a host of others comprising the 2019-20 season honors sheet issued by the conference Thursday morning.
Conference champions earn automatic All-NLC status, which included three from Wawasee, four from NorthWood and a one from Warsaw.
Wawasee had Logan Stuckman (106), Jace Alexander (126) and Garrett Stuckman (152) earn All-NLC. NorthWood had Kaden Lone (145), Jake Lone (182), Jaden Miller (195) and Blake Herr (285) earn the nod. Warsaw’s Jacob Linky (160) also topped the podium at Plymouth.
Also earning All-NLC honors were Northridge’s Ethan Baker (113) and Justin Puckett (120), Plymouth’s Graham Calhoun (170) and Diego Garcia (220), Goshen’s Rasheek Bonds (132) and Concord’s Christian Pfeiffer-Laguerre (138).
Northridge head coach Eric Highley once again guided the Raiders to a perfect round robin of 7-0 and won the tournament championship to sweep the conference. Highley for the second straight year was voted Coach of the Year by his peers.
At-Large All-NLC were attained by Dylan Tom of Wawasee, Brock Hueber of Warsaw, Dominic Smith of Plymouth, Brenden Stockman of Concord, Clayton Lundy of Elkhart Memorial and Ibraham Khaoucha of Northridge.
Honorable Mention All-NLC were attained by Hunter Miller of Wawasee, Brandon Estepp of Warsaw, Isaac Benjamin of NorthWood, Andrew BonDurant of Concord, Jose Rosales of Goshen and Northridge’s Brant Blasko and Oliver Eveler.
