VALLEY REIGNS AT GUERIN INVITE
Valley gave itself a different look and came away champions in its first appearance at the Guerin Invite.
The Vikings beat Shelbyille 64-9, Lafayette Central Catholic 52-27, Indianapolis Scecina 42-36, Lapel 70-12 and Lawrenceburg 37-32 to take the dual title.
Undefeated wrestlers for the green and gold included Drake Montelongo, Branson McBrier and Haegan Slusher. Four-win wrestlers included Galvin Shambaugh, Hunter Eherenman, Brandon Hammer, Bazle Owens and Tyler Nine. Jacob Eherenman and Johnny Gonsalez both earned three wins for the Vikings.
NORTHWOOD FINISHES 5-0 AT WEST NOBLE
Following a tough dual loss to Wawasee Thursday night, NorthWood rallied on Saturday to run undefeated at the West Noble Super Duals.
The Panthers, along with Northridge and Jimtown, were all 5-0 in the multi-bracketed format. NorthWood’s wins came in a 50-30 win over White Pigeon (Mich.), 49-30 over Fremont, 63-18 over LaVille, 61-18 over Fairfield and 75-6 over Fort Wayne North Side.
Individual stats for the Super Duals were not immediately provided.
WARSAW 45, CULVER ACADEMY 16
Warsaw took advantage of a short-handed CMA side to roll up a big win at the Tiger Den Saturday morning.
The Tigers had a stretch of four straight wins in the middle of its weight classes, starting at 126 pounds with Andrew Ross scoring a 4-0 decision over Sam Suppes. It was then three straight pins for Warsaw, starting with Brock Hogenson at 1:05 over Will Kesler, Isaiah Owens at 1:48 over Minseo Kim and Liam Nolin at 57 seconds over Tristan Meister.
Warsaw (15-4 overall) would score 24 match points via four forfeits.
Scoring for Culver Academy included Eli Pack in an 11-3 decision over Brock Hueber, Chris Roth in an 8-7 decision on Wyatt Klinger, Quint Zander in an 8-7 decision over Chris McAfoose and Braden Welch in a 1:44 fall against Brandon Estepp.
