Reahard Files For District 18 Seat In State House
WABASH – Russell “Russ” Reahard formally announced his candidacy for the Indiana House State District 18 seat Friday, Jan. 10.
Reahard, who ran unsuccessfully for the seat two years ago has filed to run again in a bid to replace Dave Wolkins, who announced he would not seek reelection to the General Assembly after more than 30 years of service.
In a news release issued Friday afternoon, the Republican candidate described himself as a constitutional conservative who “seeks to uphold the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.”
He also voiced support for defending the 2nd Amendment, while also supporting low taxes, balanced budgets and fiscal responsibility.
If elected, Reahard said he wants to be a “voice for the voiceless, a protector for orphans and those who are weak and powerless to protect themselves, especially the 8,000 unborn babies murdered each year in Indiana through abortion, the news release read.
Reahard was born in Wabash and received a degree from Manchester University. He currently serves as President of North Manchester Fellowship of Churches and is involved with Kiwanis Clubs, mission work and worship services.
The district includes all of Wabash County and parts of Kosciusko, Grant and Miami counties.
According to the Indiana Secretary of State’s website that tracks candidate filings, Reahard is the first to file for District 18.
