Plack Appointed To Oakwood Cemetery Board
WARSAW ā Chris Plack was appointed to the Oakwood Cemetery Board this week.
Plack, who ran an unsuccessful city council campaign last year as an independent, was appointed to the board by Mayor Joe Thallemer, a Republican, who then swore him in on Friday during the board of works meeting.
Plack said he’s excited about the opportunity to serve on the board even though he likely ruffled a few Republican feathers while running as an independent.
“Iām honored to serve the people of Warsaw in this role. Some said running as an Independent would bury me politically, I think this appointment shows them that’s not the case,” Plack said afterward.
Thallemer thanked Plack for accepting the appointment, noting that it is hard to find good people willing to serve.
The swearing-in came at the end of the Warsaw Board of Works and Safety Friday at city hall.
Plack lost to Republican Josh Finch for the District 2 seat on council. Finch will be sworn in Monday at his first city council meeting.
In a brief meeting, the board of works:
- Approved an annual agreement with Wayne Township in which the township provides $75,000 for parks and recreation in the city.
- Approved an agreement with Warsaw Community Schools to jointly share the cost of ice melting materials.
- Approved an agreement to have Anderson Property Management provide planting and maintaining of gardens and urns in Central Park for $16,999 for the upcoming year.
