Man Faces Multiple Charges After Allegedly Attacking Woman
CLAYPOOL — A Claypool man faces multiple charges after allegedly attacking a woman while holding a knife.
Dyrell Aaron Kreis, 39, 3211 West CR 700S, Claypool, was arrested on a warrant for charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 6 felony; domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; domestic battery with a prior conviction enhancement, a level 5 felony; possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, class A misdemeanor.
On Nov. 12, an officer with the Kosciusko Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of domestic battery. The officer spoke with a woman at an undisclosed scene who said she and Kreis, had been arguing. During the argument, she said he picked her up two or three times and slammed her down to the ground. She said he then allegedly grabbed a knife and started stabbing items around her, according to the affidavit of probable cause. The officer noticed a knife sticking out of a box as well as slice marks on a cushion and a bag of cat food at the scene.
She then said Kries dragged her into the garage. She said he told her to stay while he held a .22 caliber rifle in his hand. The officer found a .22 caliber rifle in the garage, said the affidavit.
Kries was previously convicted of domestic battery against the same victim in 2014 in Kosciusko County.
Kries was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail Jan. 2 with a bond of $20,750 sure and cash.
