Godfrey Joining National Champs
WINONA LAKE – The national champion Grace College women’s golf team added a very capable golfer when West Noble’s Hannah Godfrey signed to continue her career with the Lancers.
The senior from West Noble is a four-time All-Northeast Corner Conference honoree and IHSAA regional qualifier. As a senior, Godfrey qualified for the IHSAA State Finals, shooting a runner-up 74 at the sectional level and 76 at the regional to reach the finals. At the IHSAA State Finals, Godfrey tied for 62nd with a 90-87-177 in the two day tournament. Godfrey missed qualifying for the state finals by one stroke as a sophomore, posting a 79 at the regional.
Grace College won the NCCAA Women’s Golf National Championships for the first time in the program’s short history. The title was just the third ever for Grace in any sport, and was accomplished in just the fifth season of women’s golf at the school. Grace, coached by Denny Duncan, held off Erskine College on the final day to wrap up the title.
