TIPPECANOE VALLEY AT MACONAQUAH INVITATIONAL
The Vikings collected a 4-1 record at the Maconaquah Invite on Saturday, and had five wrestlers go undefeated on the day.
Valley defeated Lewis Cass 54-30, North Miami 63-18, Whitko 69-12 and Lapel 50-30 but fell to host Maconaquah by a narrow 36-34 score in the fourth round.
Jacob Eherenman, Brandon Hammer and Hagaen Slusher all collected five pinfall wins on the way to perfect, 5-0 records for Valley, while
Drake Montelongo (three pins), Hunter Eherenman (two pins), Branson McBrier (three pins) and Johnny Gonsalez (one pin) also went 5-0 on the day. Tyler Nine and Joel Cisneros both earned three victories, and Galvin Shambaugh, Alex Parson, Bazle Owens each won two matches. Ethan Sprague also picked up a victory for the Vikings.
WARSAW JV AT CONCORD INVITATIONAL
Warsaw sent a large group of junior varsity wrestlers to compete at Concord High School on Saturday. The Tigers had a strong showing in their first action of the season, with eight wrestlers earning top-four finishes.
Wyatt Klinger was a tournament champion in the 285-pound weight class.
Carlos Velazquez (120), Jayce Sawyer (132), and Chris McAfoose (145) each earned runner-up finishes, and Alex Jordan (182) brought home a third-place result.
Grant Cook, Jaxson Walters, and Josh Pelfrey all took fourth place in their brackets.
