Firewood Available At Oakwood Cemetery
WARSAW — Oakwood Cemetery Sexton Hal Heagy said the cemetery has not given away much firewood this year.
At the Oakwood Board of Regents meeting Thursday, Dec. 5, Heagy said only three loads of firewood were given away during the month of November.
Each year the cemetery gives away split loads of wood. Anyone interested in getting firewood from the cemetery should go to Combined Community Services at 1195 Mariners Drive, Warsaw, to obtain a voucher. The voucher is good for one split load of firewood per month while wood is available.
In another matter, a full-time groundskeeper has been hired for the cemetery. Scott Silveus accepted the position, following Jerome Grant’s retirement in October. Grant worked at the cemetery for nearly 16 years.
Heagy said they are considering hiring another full-time employee for the cemetery in 2021. That employee may start out working at the cemetery part-time in 2020 and then transition to full-time in 2021.
The use of vouchers are reserved for people with a financial need.
