SYRACUSE — The Warriors and Warsaw both collected 4-1 records alongside Anderson at the Wawasee November Duals Saturday, but the hosts claimed the team title on separation criteria at the meet.

Wawasee beat Anderson 49-27, topped Eastside 47-31, beat Fairfield by a dominant 69-9 margin and downed West Noble 59-24 but fell to Northern Lakes Conference foe Warsaw, 41-32 in their third-round meeting.

Jace Alexander went 5-0 at 126 pounds, winning three matches by first-period pinfall and topping Warsaw’s Andrew Ross by a 15-0 tech fall. He also earned a forfeit win in the win over West Noble to collect his team a total of 29 points on the day. Logan Stuckman went 5-0 at 113, and Austin LaJoice did likewise at 195 and 220 for Wawasee. Izzy Faurote went 4-1 on the day at 160, and Dylan Tom did likewise at 120 for the Warriors, who moved to 9-1 after a 5-0 finish at the Warsaw invite the previous Saturday.

Warsaw held off West Noble 37-35, rallied past Eastside 39-36 and jumped on Fairfield for a 60-16 win. The Tigers came up just short of going 5-0 with a 35-34 loss to Anderson in round two but bounced back with its big NLC win over the hosts in round three.

The Tigers scored five pinfall wins in the head-to-head with the Warriors.

A second-period pin by Jacob Linkey of Faurote at 160 put the Tigers ahead 9-6 in the team tally early, Jayton Brock’s first-period fall of Nico Ramirez extended Warsaw’s lead to 18-6. Brock Huber stuck Chance Flannery in 32 seconds at 195 to push the lead out to 24-12. William Roberts pinned Nick Clark midway through the second period of their heavyweight match to give the Tigers some breathing room at 30-12 before the Warriors rallied with wins in each of the next five bouts to cut Wawasee’s deficit to 35-32, but a third-period fall by Brock Hogenson of Zach Griffith at 138 put it away.

Huber went 5-0 with five pins on the day, Linky was 5-0 with three pins and Liam Nolin went 5-0 with a pin and two major decisions at 145 and 160. Brandon Estepp went 4-1 with three pinfall wins at 170, isaiah Owens went 4-1 with a pin and a tech fall at 132, and Brock was 4-1 with a pin at 182 for Warsaw, which moved to 9-1 on the year and 2-0 against NLC opponents.

Wawasee will travel to perennial powerhouse wrestling program Culver Academy on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Tigers will travel to Elkhart Memorial for a Tuesday night dual at 6:45 p.m.
