Warsaw, Wawasee Perfect At Warsaw Invite
WARSAW — Wawasee and Warsaw both started off the wrestling season strong with 5-0 records at the Warsaw Invitational duals Saturday.
Warsaw earned wins over Rossville (48-24), Calumet (47-20), Elkhart Central (47-20), Illiana Christian (54-30) and Elkhart Memorial (48-22), while Wawasee collected its five wins against Elkhart Central (51-25), Rossville (66-18), Memorial (60-18), Calumet (52-30) and Illiana Christian (63-18).
Six Tigers went undefeated on the day for the hosts. Brock Hueber picked up five pins, each in the first period in the 195-pound weight class. At 145, Liam Nolin battled his way to four pins and a tech-fall Jacob Linky (160) and Brock Hogenson (138) both picked up four pins also. Isaiah Owens (132) earned three pins and a tech-fall, and Andrew Ross (126) had two pins.
A total of seven Warriors were perfect at the invitational, as Hunter Miller (106), Logan Sutckman (113), Dylan Tom (120), Jace Alexander (126) and Jacob Wilkinson (132) all swept the competition in the lower weight divisions, while Tim Shortt (145), and Austin LaJoice (195) also went 5-0 on the day in the fast start for Wawasee.
Concord finished 4-1 behind Warsaw and Wawasee, while Elkhart Central was 3-2, Calumet went 2-3 Rossville finished 1-4, and both Illiana Christian and Elkhart Memorial finished 0-5.
