Hunger Food Drive Exceeds Campaign Goal
FORT WAYNE — History was made this year as six local colleges and universities raised a record-breaking 57,263 pounds of food in an event known as “U Can Crush Hunger.”
The collective efforts of Huntington University, Indiana Tech, Ivy Tech, Manchester University, Purdue University Fort Wayne, and the University of Saint Francis pushed totals beyond the 50,000-pound goal in the final week of the campaign, according to a news release from Community Harvest Food Bank.
The food drive wrapped up Nov. 5. The final weigh-in standings are as follows:
The University of St. Francis 20,529 pounds
- Manchester University with 17,773 pounds
- Indiana Tech with 11,652 pounds
- Huntington University with 3,842 pounds
- Purdue Fort Wayne with 3,098 pounds
- Ivy Tech with 370 pounds
This year’s campaign was sponsored by Two Men and a Truck Fort Wayne, Planet Fitness of Fort Wayne, and First Federal Bank.
