Boy Scouts Strive To Raise $1 Million For Endowment Fund
WARSAW — Efforts to raise $1 million by area Boy Scouts were discussed last week when Lincolnway District Boy Scouts of America held its Scouting Heritage Breakfast at the Crazy Egg Café in Warsaw.
According to a press release provided by retired Kosciusko District Executive Jim Molebash, local scouts are trying to raise the $1 million for an endowment fund that will support scouting in the community.
An endowment fund is being established through Kosciusko County Community Foundation. According to Foundation CEO Suzie Light, the endowment fund was established by the Boy Scouts of America, Anthony Wayne Area Council, in honor of Molebash, upon his retirement.
“The fund will provide the council, in which Boy Scouts of Kosciusko County maintains its membership, with an annual stream of revenue to support their mission and to help fund the presence of a professional district executive who will support scouting programs in Kosciusko County,” Light said.
Although money in the fund itself will not be spent, annual earnings from the fund will be used to pay for a full-time district executive who will be responsible for creating new scouting troops and maintaining the health of existing troops.
“If someone donates to the fund, that money will always be there,” Molebash said.
Members of the Lincolnway Scouting Endowment Committee are Bruce Andrews, Eddie Creighton, Dick Dobbins, Scott Fox, Ken Locke and Molebash.
Anyone wanting more information about the endowment fund may contact the Anthony Wayne Area Council, BSA, located at 8315 W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne, by calling (260) 432-9593.
Foundations or corporations interested in supporting the fund are also invited to contact the Anthony Wayne Area Council.
