Second Man Arrested In Connection To June Firearm Theft
SYRACUSE — A second man was arrested in connection with a firearm theft that occurred in June.
Chris Jerry Shreve II, 44, 52723 Hastings St., South Bend, was recently charged with one count of theft of a firearm, a level 6 felony, according to court documents.
Shreve was arrested on a warrant in connection with an alleged firearm theft that occurred on June 30, at Ace Hardware, Syracuse. In August, Shreve’s alleged accomplice, Jacob Shreve, was booked on charges related to the theft.
When Syracuse Police responded to a report of theft at Ace Hardware, they learned that one of the employees had $7 and a black Smith & Wesson 9mm taken from his truck.
Surveillance video showed Chris Shreve II and Jacob Shreve entering the store. The footage showed Chris Shreve II enter the workstation area and pick up the keys to the employee’s vehicle. Both suspects then exited the store.
Further footage showed the two get into a gray Nissan, drive and park next to the employee’s vehicle. Jacob Shreve got out of the Nissan and moved between the two vehicles before getting back into the Nissan, leaving the area.
Chris Jerry Shreve II was booked Oct. 23 in the Kosciusko County Jail with a bond of $6,200 surety and cash.
