Lowell L. Zentz
Lowell L. Zentz, 96, Etna Green, died peacefully at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, Oct 3, 2019, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Kosciusko County to Elman and Cora Sponseller Zentz and attended school at Beaver Dam.
He proudly served his country from 1943-1945 in the 44th Infantry Division 156FAB Battery A. He fought through France, Germany and Austria and was at the Italian border when Germany surrendered. He was honorably discharges, Nov. 14, 1945.
On July 24, 1949, he married Helen Smith in Etna Green with Minister Max Smith officiating, she survives.
He was a lifelong farmer, also worked at the Postal Department and had a lime spreading business.
Lowell was a faithful member of the Etna Green Church of Christ, where he served as elder, Sunday school teacher and Treasurer. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge and Past Master of Lodge 227 Bourbon. He was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the York Rite Masons.
He was a loving and devoted husband to Helen for 70 years. Surviving is two sons, Mike and wife Lisa of Etna Green and Duane and wife Jane of Bourbon; two granddaughters, Andrea and Courtney; and stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Doris and Joan.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Billy, Rex, Max and Donal; and three sisters: Erdine, Frances, and Martha.
The family welcomes you to a celebration of Lowell’s life, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Etna Green Church of Christ, West Broadway Street. Etna Green. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Jordan Ickes officiating. Graveside burial will beat 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7 in Harrison Center Cemetery with Military Honors.
