SOUTH BEND – A local running star made her return to northern Indiana as part of the Joe Paine Cross Country Invitational at Notre Dame Friday afternoon.

Mia Beckham, a Warsaw High School graduate, finished 100th out of 178 runners in a loaded field that included 10 ranked NCAA Division I women’s cross country teams. She covered 5,000 meters at the Burke Golf Course in 17:36.75.

Butler’s women finished 13th in the 24-team field. Unranked Utah upset No. 1-ranked Colorado, 110-116, for the team championship.
