Syracuse Man Arrested After Allegedly Punching Officer While On LSD

SYRACUSE — A Syracuse man was recently arrested after allegedly punching an officer while on LSD.
Joshua Michael Monroe, 21, 508 Inwood Circle, Syracuse; also showing an address of 518 Turtle Bay Drive, Syracuse, is charged with battery to a public safety official, a level 6 felony; and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor.
On June 2, an officer with the Syracuse Police Department responded to a welfare check at a residence. The officer spoke with a man who said he and his brother, identified as Monroe, had taken LSD.
According to court documents, officers entered the residence and heard someone yelling in a bedroom. Officers then saw Monroe jump out of a window. While speaking with officers, Monroe admitted to taking LSD. Monroe then struck an officer in the chest with a closed fist. Officers used a Taser to subdue Monroe.
Monroe was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 23, with a $3,750 surety and cash bond.
