Looking For A Seat At The Table
NOBLESVILLE – NorthWood has had its cup of coffee with some of the bigger names in girls golf around the state. Now, it’s looking to take a slice of the pie.
The Panthers, ranked No. 7 in the latest coaches poll, will be among the field for this weekend’s Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame Invitational to be played at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville.
NorthWood certainly belongs in the group, having already won three tournaments this fall. The 21-team field will feature 16 of the 20 ranked teams in the state – including the top 7 – along with honorable mention Northridge, to which NorthWood is set to meet head-to-head Wednesday in a Northern Lakes Conference showdown.
NorthWood currently is riding a 53-match win streak in the NLC and has won the past seven NLC tournament titles. This is the sixth time in school history NorthWood has competed in the prestigious event, and fourth straight year. A season ago, NorthWood finished tenth in the team standings at state, which is the team’s best finish. The Panthers have been ranked in the top 10 the entire season.
