BREAKING: Crash Shuts Down SR 15 In Milford
MILFORD — A single vehicle collision at First and SR 15 (Higbee Street) in Milford, has shut down traffic from Catherine Street south to CR 1150N., until NIPSCO crews arrive and replace a utility pole broken off at the base and dangerously learning to the north.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:51 p.m. today, Monday, Aug. 19. Emergency personnel were notified of a vehicle that had rolled over. When personnel arrived they found the vehicle on its top, the driver was able to crawl out of the vehicle, and a major NIPSCO electrical pole was broken off at the base and leaning. Milford firefighters quickly closed down the area around the crash scene and rerouted southbound traffic from SR 15 down Catherine Street to Main Street and out to Old SR 15 and back out to the highway from CR 1150N. Northbound traffic was rerouted down CR 1150N to Old 15 and into town.
Milford Police report the male driver stated he was southbound in his vehicle, at approximately 30-35 miles per hour, when he apparently passed out. The driver said he remembers driving and then the next thing he remembers was being upside down in his vehicle.
The driver told police he has been working extra hours, not drinking enough fluids and possibly was dehydrated. He was checked by paramedics with Lutheran EMS and cleared.
Milford Police did arrest the driver on a warrant out of Kosciusko County and for driving while suspended with prior. He was also not wearing a seat belt.
