Two Arrested For Stealing Items From Walmart

WARSAW — A man and woman were recently arrested after stealing merchandise from Walmart.
Austin Lee Fairchild, 26, 300 Harrison Ave., Geneva; also showing an address of 3160 N. Stoneburner Road, Warsaw; and Tiranda Marie Stevens, 23, 241 S. Robinson Road, Pierceton, are being charged with two counts of theft, class A misdemeanors; and two counts of sentence enhancement theft, level 6 felonies.
Fairchild is also being charged in a separate case with two counts of forgery, level 6 felonies; theft, a class A misdemeanor; and sentence enhancement theft, a level 6 felony.
On Nov. 28, 2018, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department went to Express Employment Professionals. An employee told the officer that Fairchild had forged two timecards on Nov. 12 and 18.
On Nov. 12, 2018, Express Employment Professionals received a timecard from Fairchild that said he worked a 60-hour work week. The employee said Fairchild only worked 40 hours and added 17 hours of overtime after a supervisor signed the timecard. Fairchild was paid an extra $280.50 for the 17 hours he didn’t work.
On Nov. 18, 2018, Fairchild turned in another 60-hour timecard. However, this timecard was caught and Fairchild was not paid for this timecard.
Fairchild admitted to the officer that he purposefully forged both timecards.
On Jan. 25, 2019, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department met with a Walmart employee in regards to a theft. The employee said that on Jan. 5, Fairchild and Stevens each entered the store with a shopping cart. Fairchild placed several items in his cart, then proceeded to the service desk and told the cashier he wanted to return the items but had no receipt. Fairchild was given $250.11 on a Walmart shopping card as a refund.
Video surveillance showed Stevens placing several DVDs in her shopping cart and putting them in a sack without paying for them.
On Jan. 8, video surveillance showed Stevens and Fairchild taking items to the service desk to return them without a receipt. Fairchild was given $231.09 on a Walmart shopping card as a refund. Stevens then placed one electric blanket, one DVD and one large rug in a shopping cart. Fairchild distracted a greeter in the store while Stevens pushed the cart out of the store without purchasing the items.
Fairchild was previously convicted of theft on May 8, 2017, and May 19, 2017. Stevens was also previously convicted of theft on April 20, 2017, and June 6, 2017.
Fairchild and Stevens were both booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 14.
