Miami County Man Seeks To Replace State Senator In Caucus
WARSAW — A second person has announced intentions to replace State Sen. Randy Head, who is resigning on Monday, Aug. 12.
Head represents District 18, which includes the southern part of Kosciusko County as well as parts or all of Fulton, Miami, Cass, Marshall and Carroll counties.
Jeff Staker, Denver, Ind., has lived in Indiana his entire life and was born and raised in Fort Wayne. He served with the United States Marine Corps from 1983 to 1994 as an infantryman, scout sniper and drill instructor. Staker also served in the Indiana Army National Guard and the Indiana Air National Guard.
Staker currently works part-time at Spear Realty as a real estate appraiser and realtor. He is also a member of the American Legion, AMVETS, DAV and VFW Post 2067 in Peru.
“I have gathered concerned parents and petitioned the North Miami School Board in regards to inappropriate conduct of a faculty member,” said Staker. “Along with neighboring residents, I petitioned our county commissioners to improve road surfacing and upgrades. I have also assisted homeowners and businesses with over-inflated tax assessments.”
Jake Adams, Flora, has also announced intentions to replace the senator. Adams served nine years of active duty with the Marines and currently works as a workforce development consultant for Ivy Tech.
Head, who served in the General Assembly for 11 years, announced his resignation in order to take a job as a chief deputy prosecutor in Pulaski County.
The Republican caucus will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Miami County Fairgrounds. The caucus will be run by State Republican Chair Kyle Hupfer. The state’s Republican Party’s Facebook page will live stream the caucus. Fourteen precinct committee members from Kosciusko County will participate in the caucus, according to Kosciusko County Republican Chair Mike Ragan.
