Lady Warriors Win Home-Opener
SYRACUSE — The Lady Warriors collected a victory over Columbia City in their home-opener Wednesday.
Wawasee carded a 174 at the friendly confines of Maxwelton to beat out City’s 182. The Wawasee JV also topped City 228-245.
Belle Brunner led the home team once more with a 37, and Tate Cowan was close behind with a 41. Valerie Haessig shot 46, Taylor Cripe carded 50, and Jadison Rostochak’s 53 was Wawasee’s fifth score.
“Great round by Belle, also Tate,” said coach Steve Coverstone. “Taylor overcame a rough start for a 50. Valerie played well again.”
City got a 37 from Katie Hoag, who tied for low medalist honors with Brunner.
Ava Harker and Rhiann Galloway turned in dual 54s for the JV Warriors. Ayla Torres shot 59, and Rylee Firestone completed the team’s score with a 61.
Wawasee will play in the NorthWood Invitational Thursday.
