Benefit Fundraiser To Be Held Saturday For Claypool Girl
WARSAW — A benefit fundraiser will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, for an 8-year-old Claypool girl battling cancer.
Payton Slaymaker was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, also known as a DIPG.
The event will be held at Warsaw Family Worship Center, located at 1250 Husky Trail, Warsaw. The benefit will include food, games, treats, kids’ games, bounce houses, a dance performance, cake walk, bake sale and huge silent auction.
T-shirts and MudLOVE bracelets will also be available for purchase.
The goal is to raise $10,000 at the benefit. If that goal is reached, Payton’s dad, grandfather and pastor have agreed to shave either their heads or beards — Payton’s choice.
Payton, who was named after former NFL Quarterback Peyton Manning, was on her way to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for radiation recently when she received a surprise phone call — from Manning.
During the phone conversation, Manning encouraged Payton to “keep the faith and keep fighting.”
“You’ve got a great name also,” Manning told Payton.
Video of the phone conversation can be viewed here. Payton’s family requests prayers for healing.
