Carroll County Man Seeks To Replace Out-Going State Senator In Caucus
WARSAW — At least one person has announced intentions to replace State Sen. Randy Head, who announced last week his intentions to resign this month.
Jake Adams, a Flora man who served nine years active duty with the Marines, was touring State Senate District 18 on Monday, Aug. 5, drumming up support from Republican leadership prior to a yet-to-be scheduled Republican caucus that will name a replacement for Head.
Head, who served in the General Assembly for 11 years, announced his resignation in order to take a job as a chief deputy prosecutor in Pulaski County.
District 18 includes the southern part of Kosciusko County as well as parts or all of Fulton, Miami, Cass, Marshall and Carroll counties.
Adams said he would be honored to replace Head.
If elected, Adams said he wants to represent the interests of those connected to rural economies. He said state lawmakers need to make sure small towns are “set up for sustainable success.”
Adams said he works as a workforce development consultant for Ivy Tech.
He said his father is a lifetime factory worker. “I’ve seen the grit of a small community and a small income family. Those are the individuals that work hard that I want to represent,”
Adams said he invites anyone to contact him about his candidacy. He can be reached at (765) 432-4224 or by email at [email protected].
Adams met with Kosciusko County Republican Chairman Mike Ragan on Monday.
Ragan said he’s aware of one other person, a lawyer from Rochester, who is expressing interest in the position.
