Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 5:06 a.m. Monday, July 15, North SR 13, north of East CR 400N, Pierceton. Driver: Andrew O. Hohman, 35, South Packerton Road, Warsaw. Hohman told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 7:10 p.m. Sunday, July 14, East US 30, north of South CR 350E, Warsaw. Drivers: Ryan M. Bonebrake, 20, East CR 100S, Pierceton; Michael B. Mcardle, 47, Laurel Springs Drive, Fort Wayne. Mcardle told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on US 30 when the vehicle driven by Bonebrake pulled into his path. He said he was unable to avoid a collision. A passenger in Bonebrake’s car, Carlene WIse, 18, East CR 300S, Warsaw, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance with a head injury. Damage up to $10,000.
- 12:27 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, North SR 13, south of East Old Road 30, Pierceton. Driver: David E. Rudolph, 53, East CR 150S, Anderson. Rudolph told police he was driving his vehicle south on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 8:06 a.m. Monday, July 15, South Columbia Street, south of West Jefferson Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Eswara S. Maddu, 27, Kinney Drive, Warsaw; Brandon L. Newcomer, 32, North Franklin Street, Mentone. Maddu told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on Columbia Street and thought Newcomer’s vehicle was going to park in the oncoming traffic lane. He said he decided to pass Newcomer’s vehicle when Newcomer turned his vehicle into his path. Damage up to $5,000.
- 12:04 p.m. Sunday, July 14, Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: David G. Merkler, 67, EMS B36B1 Lane, Warsaw; Caitlyn S. Baker, 23, East Deerwood Court, Warsaw. Merkler told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking space and backed it into the vehicle driven by Baker. Damage up to $2,500.
Winona Lake
Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake. Judy K. Enyeart, Crestlane Drive, Warsaw, told police she noticed damage to the rear hatch of her vehicle and believed it happened while she was at work at Grace Village Retirement Home. Damage up to $5,000.
Fulton
Officers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 6:28 a.m. Monday, July 15, 1658 North Old US 31, Rochester. Driver: Robert W. Eatmon, 53, Rochester. Hit deer.
- 10:08 p.m. Sunday, July 14, SR 110 and CR 550E, Rochester. Driver: Joshua M. Cotner, 39, Winamac. Hit deer.
- 3:43 p.m. Sunday, July 14, US 31 and Old 31. Drivers: Eddie D. Holcomb, 26, Rochester; and Curtis D. Rose, 73, Decatur. One driver was flown to an area hospital by Samaritan Air Ambulance.
- 10:29 p.m. Saturday, July 13, SR 25 and CR 825E. Driver: Lesa Newsome, 58, Bourbon. A deer hit her vehicle.
- 7:50 p.m. Friday, July 12, US 31 and Southway 31, Rochester. Driver: Ronald E. Miller, 73, Rochester. Miller was flown to an area hospital by Samaritan Air Ambulance.
- 5:05 p.m. Friday, July 12, C 225S, east of SR 19. Driver: Jonathon R. Fields, 20, Akron. Fields’ vehicle went off the road.
Marshall
Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
- 9:59 p.m. Saturday, July 13, US 30 and Redwood Road. Drivers: David Kerlin, 38, Lake Station; Ralph Babcock, 55, New Lisbon, Wis.; and Alan Jones, 61, North Liberty. Kerlin was airlifted to Memorial of South Bend with head injuries and is in critical condition. Babcock and Jones refused further treatment. Kerlin was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Explorer van; Babcock was driving a 2012 Freightliner semitracor/trailer and Jones was driving a Chevrolet Pickup truck.
