Hackett Announces Bid To Run For 2nd District Congressional Seat
SOUTH BEND — Democrat Pat Hackett has announced her plans to seek the Democratic nomination for the 2nd Congressional District.
Hackett ran in the 2018 primary and lost to Mel Hall, who went on to lose in the general election to incumbent Republican Jackie Walorski.
“We continue to have significant work to do in this district, and indeed in our nation, toward dignity and justice for all, not the few, and to reclaim our power in Congress,” Hackett said in a prepared statement posted on Facebook Wednesday, July 10.
“Jackie Walorski is a career politician who represents the corrupt and failed politics of special interests who invest millions of dollars in her campaigns. Our campaign will be fueled by grassroots supporters like you. No corporate PAC money,” the statement said.
Hackett is an attorney, teaches at the University of Notre Dame and owns a business.
Walorski is in her fourth term as Congresswoman.
