On June 23, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence in Mentone to serve a warrant on Vincent Michael Carnegie. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw four people sitting in a vehicle. They then saw Carnegie run from the vehicle into a nearby woods.
According to court documents, Mahaska and Craft were both in the vehicle. Officers learned Mahaska had two active arrest warrants from Kosciusko County. As Mahaska exited the vehicle, officers found a small blue bag where Mahaska had been sitting. The bag contained a powdery substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and a homemade smoking device.
Officers also learned Craft had two active arrest warrants. While exiting the vehicle, officers saw a syringe under Craft’s left leg.
Mahaska and Craft were both booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on June 23 and have been released on their own recognizances. Both Mahaska and Craft’s initial hearing dates are scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Thursday, July 18, in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
There is still an active warrant for Carnegie’s arrest.
