Warsaw Woman Arrested After Allegedly Using Strangers’ Toilet
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was arrested on drug charges after allegedly entering an apartment without permission to use the bathroom.
Amanda Jo Shepherd, 40, 218 N. Sherman St., Warsaw, is being charged with residential entry and possession of methamphetamine, both level 6 felonies.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on June 14, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department was dispatched in reference to a report of residential entry. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with two females who informed the officer that a female was in their bathroom and that none of the residents of the apartment knew the female. A male resident of the apartment was standing beside the bathroom door.
The officer could hear someone in the bathroom. When the officer opened the bathroom door, he observed a female sitting on the toilet. The female informed the officer that she needed to use the restroom.
The officer ordered the female out of the bathroom and she was escorted out of the residence. The female was identified as Shepherd. While speaking with Shepherd outside the residence, the officer observed a syringe in her pocket. Shepherd was then placed in hand restraints.
During a further search of Shepherd’s person, the officer located a white substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
The officer spoke with all four residents of the apartment. All four informed the officer that they do not know Shepherd and had not given her permission to enter their residence to use the bathroom or for any other reason.
Shepherd was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail June 14 on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
