Grace College And Seminary Professor Co-Authors Jeremiah Commentary
Winona Lake — Dr. Tiberius Rata, associate dean of the School of Ministry Studies at Grace College & Seminary, and Walter C. Kaiser Jr. published Walking the Ancient Paths: A Commentary on Jeremiah with Lexham Press on June 19. In this book, the authors illuminate the book of Jeremiah for a contemporary audience.
Rata received his Ph.D. in Old Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill. He completed his dissertation on the book of Jeremiah. Rata began his work on the commentary in 2011 which involved creating annotations for readers from the Hebrew text.
“The best thing about this commentary is its practicality,” said Rata. “The commentary speaks to the intellect by addressing text-critical issues but it also speaks to the heart by challenging the reader to act and follow the God that Jeremiah loved and served.”
Teachers and preachers are the intended audiences for the book. Rata explained, “This book is very preachable. It gives historical and literary background, as well as devotional and application insights.”
