WPD Releases Name Of 8-Year-Old Killed In Car-Pedestrian Accident
WARSAW — The Warsaw Police Department has issued an update on the car-pedestrian accident that killed an 8-year-old boy on Monday, June 10.
“At 1:47 p.m., the Warsaw Police Department, along with other first responders were dispatched to an injured child call in the area of Husky Trail at North Pointe Drive,” said the WPD in the press release. “The 8-year-old male child was identified as Gidieon Cook, who recently finished the second grade at Harrison Elementary School.”
The police reported that a preliminary investigation indicates the child had been crossing Husky Trail at the crosswalk at the time of the collision. “This is currently an active and ongoing investigation,” said the WPD in the press release. “The driver of the vehicle, Raven L. Loubert, 24, has cooperated in the investigation by providing a blood draw, as well as a consensual search of her cell phone. Investigators are awaiting results of the forensic cell phone download and the toxicology report. Multiple witnesses remained at the scene of the accident and have been interviewed by investigators. The vehicle involved was towed to the Warsaw Police Department for processing.”
