Jury Trial Begins For Silver Lake Man Accused Of Child Molestation
KOSCIUSKO — A jury trial for a Silver Lake man facing a charge of child molestation began this afternoon, June 3, in Kosciusko County Superior Court 1.

Trey Michael Burbank
Trey Michael Burbank, 26,11144 S. County Farm Road, Silver Lake, is being charged with child molestation, a level 1 felony.
Jury selection took place this afternoon and lasted five rounds. In the end, a jury of 9 women, three men and two alternatives, one man and one woman, was chosen. Potential jurors were asked if one child’s testimony would be enough for them to convict someone of a crime and if they regarded children as credible, among many other questions.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on June 11, 2018, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a local hospital in regards to a possible child molestation. A female who was 13 years old at the time told officers that Burbank had been molesting her for a long period of time.
According to court documents, the minor told officers that Burbank touched her inappropriately and had sex with her on multiple occasions. She stated that the first time occurred on Dec. 2, 2017, and continued through June 2018. On June 12, the minor had a follow-up appointment with the Fort Wayne Sexual Assualt Center. The minor tested positive for Chlamydia, a sexually transmitted disease.
Burbank submitted to a Chlamydia test on July 14 and tested positive. Burbank stated that the minor must have contracted Chlamydia from using sex toys. A doctor advised that Chlamydia is a weak virus and it does not live long outside of the body. She advised it is highly unlikely for the minor to have contracted Chlamydia from using a sex toy.
The jury trial is scheduled to last three days and conclude on Wednesday, June 5.
