Claypool Students Raise Donation For BYC
CLAYPOOL — Claypool Elementary School students spent the final weeks of the school year fulfilling their student council mission of “spreading kindness like confetti” throughout their school as well as in the community.
Members of the student council brainstormed how they could be successful at enriching the lives of fellow students and the community. The council decided to have “Sprinkle Days” in which students would wear their kindness shirts or bracelets to school and the whole day would be focused on being kind to others.
Kindness t-shirts were on sale to create a donation that the student council members could send to Baker Youth Club. The group decided on BYC because they knew by donating the proceeds to this particular organization it would ultimately touch the lives of all Warsaw Students who attend there as well.
The members of student council quickly began the process of designing the kind T-shirts, which states “Claypool Knights Are Stronger with Kindness.” They also picked out the beads they wanted to use to make the bracelets. Student council members met every day either before school or during their lunch and recess to make the bracelets and shirts. Although it was a long process that involved a lot of hard work on behalf of the students, their efforts paid off when they were able to donate $1,100 to BYC.
