Penn Commands Pace At Bob Turner
LEESBURG – Penn put on a show a week ahead of the state tournament with a 300 at the Bob Turner Classic boys golf event Monday afternoon at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club.
The Kingsmen, ranked No. 5 in the latest state poll, were six shots better than No. 7 Fort Wayne Dwenger. Fort Wayne Canterbury, ranked No. 15, were third at 313 and tied with Triton. Warsaw was fifth at 329 and Manchester (342), Wawasee (351) and NorthWood (356) rounded out the field.
Canterbury’s Carson Stohler was the individual medalist with a sterling round of 71. Cal Hoskins of Warsaw was next on the individual list with a 73.
Wrapping up Warsaw’s scores were Chase Byron at 80 and both Tucker Carlile and Lewis Turley shooting 88.
Wawasee had Zach Leedy pace the team with an 84, followed by Evan Dippon at 87, Brandon Tayagua at 88 and Caden Welty at 90.
Triton and NorthWood did not immediately report its individual scores.
