Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
6:26 a.m. Monday, May 13, at South Higbee Street and West Emeline Street, Milford. Drivers: Cora Campanello, 19, Belmont Avenue, South Bend; Anthony Jackson, 52, Bashor Road, Goshen. Campanello told police she was following too closely behind Jackson’s vehicle and rear-ended the vehicle after the traffic light turned red. Damage: Up to $10,000.
2:39 a.m. Monday, May 13, U.S. 30, west of North CR 800W, near Etna Green. Drivers: Hakeem Pittman, 23, West Williams Street, Fort Wayne; Robert Brophy, 48, 3rd Street, Mosinee, Wisc. Pittman was traveling east on US 30 and was in the left lane while attempting to pass a semi truck driven by Brophy. He says the truck swerved into his lane and struck his vehicle, which then spun and eventually stopped in the roadway. Pittman’s vehicle was then involved in another accident (see below). Brophy contends Pittman’s vehicle swerved into his lane and struck his trailer. Pittman complained of chest pain and was taken to Parkview Warsaw. Damage: Up to $25,000.
2:39 a.m. Monday, May 13, west of North CR 800W, near Etna Green. Drivers: Hakeem Pittman, 23, West Williams Street, Fort Wayne; Michael Schick, 48, Randolph Drive, Plymouth. Schick was eastbound on US 30 when he came upon a disabled vehicle that had just been involved in another crash and driven by Pittman. Schick said he was unable to avoid hitting Pittman’s vehicle. Damage: Up to $10,000.
5:13 p.m. Sunday, May 12, on West CR 900S, east of SR 19 near Akron. Driver: Joshua Schmucker, 38, of South SR 25, Warsaw. Driver struck a deer. Damage: Up to $5,000.
7:24 a.m. Sunday, May 12, on SR 14 west of North Neer Drive near Silver Lake. Driver: Samantha Davis, 22, West Point Drive, Warsaw. Davis was traveling east on SR 14 with a dog on her lap when she came upon a large SUV at the intersection and the vehicles collided. Both vehicles ended up in a yard, causing damage to some bushes and the yard. Driver of the SUV left the scene. Damage: Up to $25,000.
12:41 a.m. Sunday, May 12, on US 30, east 0f Fox Farm Road, near Warsaw. Drivers: Christopher Brauneker, 27, East Walnut Street, Argos; Aldolfo Palacios, 50, South Main Street, Etna Green. Braunecker said he looked down at a drink and then did not have time to stop before his vehicle struck the back of a vehicle in front of his. The two-vehicle then became entangled and spun off the road.
Silver Lake
Officers with the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
6:20 a.m. Monday, May 13, on SR 15, south of CR 600S near Claypool. Driver: Maria Vick, 39, East Walnut Street, Silver Lake. The driver struck a deer, which smashed into the windshield. Vick suffered minor bleeding to her face. Damage: Up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
12:32 p.m. Monday, May 13, on South Harrison Street, south of East Center Street in Warsaw. Drivers: Margaret Kahn, 63, Stone Camp Trail, Winona Lake; Michael Russell, 59, East CR 300S, Warsaw. Kahn was stopped at the intersection and attempted to back up to make room for a truck that was turning and struck the vehicle behind her. Damage: Up to $5,000.
12:17 p.m. Saturday, May 11, on East Smith Street, Warsaw on a private drive. Driver: Stacy Burke, 57, South Lake Sharon Road, Warsaw. Driver bent over to pick up something from the floorboard and the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Damage: Up to $10,000
