Man Arrested After Allegedly Making Threats With Gun
KOSCIUSKO— A man with addresses on file for both Warsaw and North Webster is facing charges after allegedly threatening four people with a handgun.
James Robert Carpenter, 31, with addresses on file as both 123 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, and 8488 E. Asbury Lane, North Webster, is being charged with intimidation, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on April 11, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of intimidation with a firearm. The officer spoke with a female at the scene, who advised that Carpenter was removing her, along with three other individuals, from the residence.
The female said the four were packing their belongings to leave when Carpenter allegedly retrieved a handgun from under a mattress and told them he would blow their heads off.
The female provided a short video she had taken with her phone. She advised they had been invited to the residence by Carpenter’s sister, who also resides there.
The video was viewed by police and showed Carpenter yelling at someone in a bedroom to get out. In the video, Carpenter is heard asking someone if they see it and then shows them what appears to be a revolver. A clicking sound is then heard in the video, which the female advised was Carpenter tapping her phone with the gun.
Police spoke with Carpenter, who took officers into a bedroom and showed them a handgun that appeared to be a .357 Magnum revolver. Officers discovered that the gun shoots BBs but did have cartridge cases in the cylinder.
Carpenter advised that an argument took place and he wanted the four individuals to leave his residence. He stated that the female who took the video hit him in the back of the head, and he pulled out the handgun.
Carpenter was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail April 11 on a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
