Orsund, Ousley Moving On Together
BOURBON — Triton seniors Conner Ousley and Tye Orsund will be playing football together once more at the next level.
The duo signed on to continue their football careers at NCAA Division III Trine University beginning next season. Both were standouts at their positions during a program resurgence that saw the Trojans set numerous records culminating in a 9-4 sectional-championship season this past fall, the team’s first in a decade.
A cornerback, wide receiver and strong safety, Orsund’s career stats include 61 receptions for 1,332 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on offense and 152 solo tackles, seven interceptions, seven sacks and five forced fumbles on defense. He was named both Indiana Football Coaches Association’s All-State and Associated Press All-State Honorable Mention in 2018, was All-Hoosier North Athletic Conference in 2017 and 2018 and received the team’s Iron Man Award for three straight seasons from 2015 to 2018.
Ousley, a 6’6” tackle and defensive end, was a three-year starter on Triton’s varsity team. He collected 24 solo tackles and 54 total tackles on defense. Like Orsund, Ousley was named IFCA All-State and AP All-State Honorable Mention as a senior, as well as an IFCA Region 2 All-Star, All-HNAC in 2017-18 and a Maxpreps 2018 Top 100 Under-the-radar Player. Also a 2017 IFCA Junior All-State Honorable Mention, Ousley was named his team’s best lineman in 2018 and was selected for Triton’s 2018 Cameron Scarberry Fortitude Award.
“Thank you to Tye and Conner for all of your hard work over the last four years,” read Triton football’s Facebook page. “You guys leave behind an awesome Trojan career and will be huge assets to the Thunder this fall.”
Trine is located in Angola. The Thunder are an NCAA DIII program competing in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The team finished 10-1 overall and 7-0 in the MIAA in 2018 following an 11-1, 6-0 MIAA mark in 2017.
