WAWASEE 175, JIMTOWN 179
It wasn’t the prettiest show Wawasee has put on this season, but it was effective enough in a boys golf dual at McCormick Creek Golf Course Thursday afternoon.
Evan Dippon led the way for the Warriors with a 39, but a night after Wawasee had its top four within three shots of one another, the next best score was a 43 from Zach Leedy. It dropped from there with Dillon Drake checking in at 45 and Victor Tayagua shooting 48.
For Jimtown, Ben Behrens led the way with a 42, with Trae Brubaker and Brice Griffin at 45 and Nate Behrens at 47.
“We didn’t play our best, but we hung in there and got the win,” said Wawasee head coach Steve Coverstone. “Nice round by Evan Dippon.”
The JV tallies went to Wawasee in a 184-228 triumph, paced by Jared Krugman’s 45.
Wawasee (7-2) returns to action Saturday at the Concord Invite at Bent Oak.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY MS 202, LINCOLN 221, LAVILLE 255
The coed Valley golf team defeated Lincoln and LaVille on Thursday night, moving to 4-1 on the season. The Valley boys bested Laville, but then tied with Lincoln, 221-221, and ultimately lost for the first time this year by 1-stroke on the fifth-man’s tiebreaking score. TVMS’s Greg Miller was the match medalist in the boy’s match with a 42. Cody Eastgate and Noah England both shot a 57 and Ethan Young had a 65. Madelyn Weaver led the girl’s scores with a 51, followed by Molly Moriarty at 54, Kaydence Mellott at 55 and Lydia Miller at 64.
