North Webster Man Arrested For Possession Of Meth
WARSAW — A North Webster man was arrested after officers discovered methamphetamine in a vehicle.
Jeffrey Norris Simpson, 47, 6838 E. CR 600N, North Webster, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On April 20, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department observed a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit on Detroit Street.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the male passenger as Simpson. According to the affidavit of probable cause, while searching the vehicle, officers found a hollowed white pen containing a white residue, a cut straw containing a clear residue and a plastic bag containing three tenths of a gram of methamphetamine. The residue in the pen and straw tested positive for methamphetamine. Officers also found a glass smoking device and digital scales in the vehicle.
Simpson admitted to officers that all the illegal drugs in the vehicle belonged to him. He has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
Simpson has an initial hearing at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, May 9, in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
