WARSAW – Jose Grimmett capped a stellar wrestling career at Warsaw with a strong senior season, and the Tiger 152-pounder has decided to continue his wrestling and educational focus in the fall at Wabash College.
Grimmett, who earned first team All-Northern Lakes Conference this season, went 30-8 on the year including being a quarterfinalist at the East Chicago IHSAA Semi-state this season. He was also a three time regional qualifier, twice awarded the Tiger Pride award for Tiger wrestling, and he was named as the team captain this past season.
Grimmett has not only had his hand raised often on the mat, he has had it up in the classroom as well. The WCHS Scholar Athlete has amassed an impressive 9.72 GPA while enrolled in multiple dual credit and advanced level courses, and he was named to the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-State team this year.
He has also had a strong impact in the school and community. A recipient of the Tri-Kappa Award, he has assisted with community service programs such as Feed My Starving Children, and he has been a big help with Warsaw Tiger Club Wrestling serving as a volunteer as well as a participant.
Projected to wrestle at the 157-pound division next season, Grimmett plans to study Computer Science and looks to compete for coach Brian Anderson’s Little Giants. Wabash is a member of the NCAA Division III and the North Coast Athletic Conference.
