Whitko Community Schools Names Phil Jensen Varsity Football Coach
SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko Community School Corporation recently announced Phil Jensen as the Whitko Jr./Sr. High School varsity football coach. Jensen will also work as a business teacher at the high school.
Coach Jensen has many years of successful head coaching experience, having served as head coach of two different schools prior to accepting the position at Whitko High School.
Jensen served as the head varsity football coach for Warsaw Community High School from 1996 to 2004 and from 2008 to 2017. He also served as the varsity head football coach for Churubusco High School from 1992 to 1996.
“We could not be more thrilled to have Coach Phil Jensen leading our football program,” said Superintendent Brandon Penrod. “Phil brings a wealth of experience to Whitko and we are looking forward to his expertise and experience helping to build our corporation-wide football program.”
“I’m very excited for this opportunity,” said Jensen. “Coaching has always been my passion my whole life. It’s truly my calling. I’m also excited for this teaching opportunity, as well as working with Mr. Penrod and Mr. Snyder [Whitko Jr./Sr. High School principal.]”
Coach Jensen owns a 133-96 record for his career at Warsaw Community High School and Churubusco High School.
