Voyeurism Arrest Made After Man Allegedly Recorded Grace College Students In Undress
WINONA LAKE — An Ohio man was recently arrested after police say he used a device to record four Grace College female students in various stages of undress.
Gavin Layne Reeves, 20, 10471 Dixon Road, Winchester, Ohio, is being charged with four counts of voyeurism, level 6 felonies.
On July 5, 2018, an officer with the Winona Lake Police Department was informed by Grace College Campus Safety that there was a hidden camera that recorded video and audio located in a dorm bathroom on campus. Through an investigation, it was discovered that the device was also located in the bedroom of a Grace College female student.
On Aug. 3, 2018, the officer was informed that a search warrant was executed on Reeves’ residence and on the hidden camera device in question. There were several videos recovered from the device that appeared to be taken in the dorm bathroom of Grace College.
On Jan. 30, 2019, the officer received a hard drive containing all the evidence obtained from the hidden camera device. Upon reviewing the evidence, it was determined that the hidden camera device was placed in the dorm bathroom and recorded four female Grace College students in various stages of undress on numerous occasions. All four female victims were able to identify still photos of themselves taken from the video.
The officer interviewed one of the female students who was recorded. The female victim advised that Reeves gave her the hidden camera device and told her that it was a motion-activated air freshener he was working on. Reeves told the female that the device would collect motion so he could determine the settings for the air freshener. He requested that she place the device in the dorm bathroom.
An officer also interviewed Reeves. During the interview, Reeves admitted to providing the hidden camera device to the female student and that he identified it as an air freshener. Reeves also admitted that he had the student put the device in the bathroom so that he could record female students in various stages of undress without consent from any of the victims.
Reeves was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on April 18 with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
