Mottern uninjured when truck hits horse/buggy
MIDDLEBURY — Steve Mottern, 49, North Webster, was not injured when his 2005 Ford F150 truck struck a horse and buggy Monday, April 1 near Middlebury. The accident occurred at 4:27 p.m. on SR 13, north of CR 20, south of Middlebury.
Norma Miller, 27, Goshen, driver of the horse and buggy, sustained a laceration to the head and complained of right leg pain. A passenger in the buggy, Amanda Miller, 64, Goshen, complained of right and left leg pain. Norma Miller was taken to Elkhart General Hospital. Amanda Miller was taken to Goshen Hospital. The horse was not injured.
The investigating Elkhart County Sheriff’s Officer reports Mottern was southbound on SR 13, north of CR 20, when his truck rear ended the buggy. He was issued a warning for following too closely.
Middlebury Paramedics responded to the scene.
The truck sustained heavy front end damage and the buggy was totaled.
